Choose Paint Colors

This is a tough one. It's one thing to pick out a color you like and an entirely different thing to choose a color that will look good on the walls of your house or coordinate with other things that will be around it.

Here are some tips that I've found helpful:

1. Choose a color that you really like. Don't just choose a color that you think goes well with the other things in the room but look for one that you really think you would enjoy looking at everyday.

2. Buy a sample of the paint color, a piece of white poster board and a paint brush. Paint the poster board with two coats of paint and then let it fully dry. Hang the poster board on the wall of the room you want to paint and leave it there for a few days. See what the color look like at different times during the day (in different lightings) and if you really like it.

3. Go with a shade lighter. Paint tends to look a little darker on the walls after a couple of coats, especially in corners and rooms that don't have much natural light.

There is an interior designer that I adore, and she has done an entire post dedicated to paint colors she likes. Check it out here.
